The Investment In Our Materials

If you do take the time to drop by our showroom/bindery, you'll notice it's a very humble little place we have. Absolutely nothing fancy. That's because the bulk of our costs goes into the materials we use for your precious handmade heirlooms.

So let's talk about what goes into each and every one of our handmade keepsakes.

Cover Materials - Japanese Silks

We exclusively use Japanese made silks and fabrics for all our coverings, importing them ourselves directly from the mill in Japan. These gorgeous covering materials are hand dyed, so the same colour ordered for the next batch may differ slightly.

With so many colours options to choose from, there's definitely one that you will absolutely fall in love with. In fact, our quarter bound album gives you an option of having 2 cover materials.

Print & Paper

We are probably the only few album binders who exclusively use 12 colour inkjet printing and NOT lab prints (like Fuji or Kodak) nor press prints (like other photo book or album makers). Inkjet printing is the highest quality print (and highest cost as well) as the print quality far surpasses others in terms of deep, vivid colours and longevity (which resists fading for over 100 years).

Coupled with our use of a German made matte paper, you'll immediately notice a difference in all our printed products - from albums, to matted prints, to small and large prints. Our papers have a beautiful matte finishing, so unique, you'll never mistaken it for a regular photograph.

When you first open your album, you'll see our vellum title page, which is a beautiful Italian made paper.

Matboards

We use matboards that are imported from the US and the UK. The reason being that these are made from mills which are over 120 years old. With that comes the expertise and consistency in terms of quality of the materials. We use a bright white matboard, although upon request we also have an off-white, natural white matboard colour.

Boards & Substrates

The base boards of our album covers and boxes are imported from Holland, which gives each keepsake a thick, sturdy feel to it. Our album substrates are made in Italy and is acid-free to ensure longevity of the prints.

Combining all these wonderful materials means you are getting the absolute best in terms of quality, and without compromising, each one was tested over the years and we've maintained almost every single one of them throughout our almost 15 years in binding.
