It doesn't need to be complicated.

Unlike the other album makers out there, we offer a service unlike any other, where we will personally guide and even handle the entire process for you. So, if you're (finally) looking into getting a wedding album for that special day, and it all seems so daunting, then fear not. Through the 15 years of experience I have not only been making albums by hand, but also designing them. I can gladly say it can be a simple yet joyous process, I'm here to help you through this. If you'd like to order an album from me and need help, you can shoot me a Whatsapp text. Otherwise, read on!

Let's make this as simple as it can be.

In order to simplify the process, let's take things step by step. From there, I will elaborate and add on more details should you require them.

Step 1 - Selecting Your Images

tl;dr: Have your high resolution images ready and narrowed down to the must-haves, around 70-100 images for a 10 spread (20 page) album.

Have your high resolution images (details below) ready and selected. We know that most of you have hundreds, or even thousands of images from your wedding. You'll first need to narrow down to those you would love to or absolutely must haves. For our 12x12" albums, we recommend 7-10 images a spread (in an album, 1 spread = 2 pages opened up). So a base album of 10 spreads (20 pages) album will fit somewhere between 70-100 images comfortably. A little more is fine too, however the more images, the smaller each will appear in the album.

If you have more, you'll simply need to add more spreads, or alternatively order separate albums for different events - for example one album for dinner reception, another for the ceremony/solemnization, which some couples have opted to do.

While we know that every aunt, uncle, cousin, friend, colleague or acquaintance is important (which is probably why they were at your wedding), it's ok to not have them in the album. Simply put, when you take a look at your album many years from now, who or what would you like to see in there (and don't mind NOT seeing in there :). It would be best to relegate the many folks in your wedding into just a couple of group shots, and save the focus on you, your spouse, immediate family and important folks in your lives.

Note on high resolution images: Images are best at around 3-4MB or more per image, although would still be usable at around 1-2MB. Images taken with smartphone would work as well, however if you received an image, for example sent to you via Whatsapp, that would likely be highly compressed and of low resolution. To check the resolution on your computer, simply click and hover over the image in Windows Explorer or check it's 'Properties'. On your mobile device (iPhone), simply click on the 'i' to view the details.

Step 2 - Designing Your Album (We'll Handle This)

tl;dr: We'll handle the entire design process. When ready, all you need to do is check the link to approve or request changes to the design layout, all done online.

We understand having full creative control is something important to you, however after designing hundreds of albums, we usually know what would look good in terms of image layouts. (That being said, we usually work side by side with you if you prefer to have some creative control). Our layouts make your images the focal point of the album, which is why you'll notice all our albums uses white background, spaces and margins. Having coloured, design or complicated background will draw focus away from your images, rather than complement them. The other (and more important) reason is that simple designs will remain timeless, even after decades. If you manage to get hold of an album with complicated, funky or trendy designs, (probably from a decade ago), you'll notice that it looks dated and 'out of fashion'.

From the number and types of images, we will do the design that's best suited to the number of pages so that your layouts look amazing. If you're fixed on the number of pages due to budget or any other constraints, we can easily work with that too. The less images (or the more spreads) the larger the images can be, which will be especially gorgeous for scenic shots.

On our side, once the design is completed, we'll send you an online link where you can view, approve or request changes. Our layouts for your albums are done from the ground up, no ready made templates. They are created specifically for your album suited to the images you have. As simple as this sounds, this process would usually take hours of work.

Step 3 - Deciding Details of the Outside

tl;dr: From the cover type, material, cover accents, you can decide based on your needs or preference. We'll guide you through this process as well.

Having over 40 different cover materials, which we personally import from Japan, might be a tough decision. But this can be simplified based on your needs or preference. Do you prefer a cover that's darker, and therefore less prone to stains? Or would you prioritize having a cover that matches the theme of your wedding? With Malaysia being a tropical climate, where it's humid and hot all year round, lighter covers are more prone to discolouring. This is something unavoidable, however it won't affect the longevity in terms of fading colours of your images inside. Darker colours are less susceptible to fading and staining.

Other details we can help you with are the type of covers to choose. We offer several options, including full Japanese silk covers, quarter bound Japanese silk covers and quarter bound image cover. Other details include name imprint on the front or a photo inset.

Another option to consider would be a box. We offer the most stunning handmade boxes, which is made specifically for your album. If you do opt for our box, once your album is completed, we'll measure the album and make the box by hand to fit your album perfectly and snuggly.

That's It, It's Done.

Trusting us in handcrafting your most precious images into a treasured heirloom book is something we handle carefully and responsibly. Which is why we are probably the only binder in the country which will not only help, but guide you through the entire process, not through a blog or website, but personally. So our goal is always to have you smile the moment you open your album, when a gush of memories come flooding out from a tangible, carefully handmade printed album.
